You can always run your business under your own name, but only if you're a sole proprietor (not incorporated). When choosing a unique name for your business, you must first make sure that no one else is using it for their business and second register it. Unless you're a corporation you also cannot use LTD, INC, Incorporated or Limited after your business name.
